10/03/2008 Charlie Van Voorhis of Fishers Island, NY had a 5 point lead on the second place team of Bill Widnall of Marblehead, MA, going into the 8th and final race. Van Voorhis attacked at the start and pushed the Widnall team to the back of the fleet on the first leg, and then kept him there for the duration to lock up the championship. Second place was still to be decided however with Penny Simmons from Bermuda having won race 6 and 7. David Rockefeller, representing Northeast Harbor ME, held on to his lead however to finish 1 point ahead of Simmons.
